Join Thomas and Friends for an exciting fun packed weekend at Haverthwaite station.
Arrive at Haverthwaite or Lakeside, purchase your all inclusive ticket, which entitles you to unlimited travel on Daisy and Bulgy the bus. They leave Haverthwaite on the hour and half hour, and from Lakeside on the quarter past and quarter to the hour. Thomas stories come to life in Haverthwaite yard, under the watchful eye of Sir Topham Hat and the local Constable. Thomas is thirsty, but Diesel will not move out of the way, Trevor needs a helping hand, Thomas has stomache ache, George is Grumpy are just a few of the magical stories that come alive before your childrens eyes.
Miniature model steam train rides through the engine shed, Children's entertainer, to include puppet show, magic show, balloon modelling and face painting at Haverthwaite keeping children amused, and an exciting " fun filled goody bag " are also included in your ticket.
Mrs Kindley's Tearoom is open, offering childrens meals, homemade pies, soup, hot roast baguettes, sandwiches, scones, cakes, hot & cold drinks.
Haverthwaite Gift shop is stocked with Thomas merchandise, Local produce, and toys for children of all ages.

We will be introducing a Resident Card for permanent residents of the LA & CA postal code areas. Proof of residency is required.

This year, between the 14th and 20th April, we will be re-launching our Resident Cards. If you live in Cumbria or within the Lancaster City Council authority, you can get a Resident Card that entitles you to 50% off standard fare between October and April, and 20% off standard fare between May and September.

Due to popular demand from customers and staff, come along and see Steam and Diesel locomotives working together.
Travel through the beautiful Leven Valley behind locomotives chosen from our Steam and Diesel fleet.
Double and single headed journeys, with priority being given to the only Fairburn tank locomotives left in preservation, and Diesel classes 20 and 26.
New for 2008. Rover ticket holders will be able to take advantage of reserved seats in our comfortable carriages directly behind the Locos.
Timetable as normal, locomotive running order to be confirmed weekend before the event.

JUNE 14th & 15th
Travel behind the only Fairburn tank locomotives left in preservation - spend the day with us if you wish, and with a discounted Rover ticket you can travel up to six times throughout the day.
New for 2008. Reserved seats available behind the engine in comfortable carriages for Rover ticket holders to soak up the atmosphere as the engine climbs the steeply graded bank out of Haverthwaite on the journey to Lakeside.
Timetable as normal, running order to be confirmed the weekend before the event.
Please kindly note that the company, to the best of their ability will ensure both engines are running, but cannot be held responsible if this does not go to plan!

JULY 12th & 13th
Our annual steam gala this weekend will have four engines in steam, taking it in turns to haul our carriages out of Haverthwaite through the beautiful early summer colours of the Leven valley, halting at Newby Bridge before commencing your journey to Lakeside.
The journeys will be single and double headed, so have your camera ready for that perfect shot
New for 2008. Rover ticket holders will be able to take advantage of reserved seating immediately behind the loco's, so you can enjoy the wonderful age of steam.

AUGUST 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th
FR20, the oldest working standard guage steam locomotive in Britain, departs Haverthwaite at 6:45pm. Travel in style in lovingly restored comfortable carriages up the steeply graded bank out of Haverthwaite. Enjoy the summer evening as FR20 hauls you through the beautiful Leven Valley, halting at Newby Bridge, where photographs may be taken, before commencing your journey to Lakeside. MV Tern will be waiting for you to board and enjoy a 35 minute early evening cruise on Windermere. FR20 will wait at Lakeside for your return, to complete your journey back to Haverthwaite. Dressing up in Victorian costume is not compulsory, but it adds to the atmosphere of this delightful evening for all ages.
Why not make this evening extra special, by reserving a table in the warm and friendly atmosphere of our Station Restaurant. Mrs Maher and her team dress up for the occasion and serve you a delicious two course meal £8.95 per person using locally sourced food by local suppliers. The Restaurant is licensed, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer with your meal. Hot and cold drinks, cakes, and light snacks are also available.

with a special joint ticket.
Hop on-board the Froggy Express to Lakeside and discover more about the creatures that live in our rivers, lakes and streams.

Witches and Wizards Week
OCTOBER 27th - 2nd NOVEMBER
Haverthwaite is entering into the spirit of Halloween, the station and restaurant will be decorated, staff dressed in costume to get you into a spooky mood.
Girls and Boys, dress up in your favourite scary spooky outfits ( adults join in as well )
and come along to Haverthwaite to ride in spooky decorated carriages behind the big black engine, through the dark, dark tunnel, looking out for ghosts, witches, black cats, caldrons and pumpkins.
Will the ghosts of long ago still be roaming in the old haunted carriage in Haverthwaite tunnel?
Halt at Newby Bridge, and watch out for the headless Station Master, who prowls the platform, catch a glimpse of his house in the station shelter.
Arrive at Lakeside, where you can enjoy lots more spooky fun at Lakes Aquarium ( see website for details )

NOVEMBER 15th & 16th
Our annual diesel gala this weekend will have five diesel engines taking it in turn to haul single and double headed trains to Lakeside. The Railway is primarily a steam railway, so this weekend gives us the opportunity to put the diesels through their paces.
New for 2008. Rover ticket holders will be able to take advantage of reserved seating behind the locos, so that you can enjoy up to seven journeys in our comfortable carriages.
Some trains connect with Windermere Lake Cruises.

DECEMBER 6th,7th, 13th, 14th, 20th & 21st
A Christmas Treat for all the Family
Join Father Christmas and his helpers on a magical journey to Lakeside.
Presents for the children. Christmas cake and seasonal drink for the adults. Carols and a good time foor everyone!
All Santa special depart Haverthwaite
Station, trains departing at 10.30, 12.30, and 2.30. The round trip
takes one and a half hours.
Tickets: £13.00 per person (Adults and Children).
Father Christmas and all his helpers board the train at Haverthwaite; this is where the fun begins.
Each carriage is a hive of activity, chief elf JoJo and her helpers get the festivities started with a Christmas song, with lots of cheer to welcome Santa.
The Railway Volunteer society band ‘Live Steam’, singing traditional carols encourage you to join them in the Christmas spirit.
Father Christmas visits each family in their seats, where he gives
a specially chosen present to each child (it even has their name on
it). Adults receive either an alcoholic or soft drink and a large slab
of Christmas cake decorated personally by Rosemarie (our cake queen)
with a festive motif.
To make your day complete, why not dine in our station
restaurant. For just £8.25 adults, £5.25 children you could
have a traditional two course Christmas meal, prepared by Auntie Ange
and served in the warm and friendly atmosphere of the old station at Haverthwaite, under
the watchfull eye of Mrs Riddell our Restaurant manger.
Many families make this a special part of their Christmas, bringing
all ages of their family, old and young- whoever is ready for a good
time!
