Please note the following conditions of carriage, safety and site information…

  • The railway is a working environment, so please ensure children are supervised at all times during your visit.
  • The company accepts no liability for any inaccuracy in the information contained on this website.
  • Pricing information is subject to alteration without notice.
  • Special fares or discounts may apply at selected events – please check the Event List or contact the Booking Office for further details.
  • Unless otherwise stated for special events, child fares apply to children aged 3 to 15 years, while under 3’s travel free.
  • Group rates are available on request, but do not apply to our special events – please contact the Booking Office for further details and seat reservations.
  • We welcome well behaved dogs, who can travel for free, but not on seats!
  • Timetable information is subject to alteration without notice.
  • On occasion, operational reasons may require that a diesel locomotive or motor launch is used to replace the steam locomotive and “steamer” service.
  • Steamer services cruising from Lakeside Pier to Bowness and Ambleside are operated by “Windermere Lake Cruises
  • We cannot guarantee parking at Haverthwaite or that parking will be available for camper vans/motor homes/caravans due to the limited size of our car park.

Online Tickets, Terms and Conditions:

  • Your ticket is subject to the standard terms and conditions of carriage.
  • We have the right to revise and amend these terms from time to time.
  • Ticket prices are correct at time of purchase and can be revised at our discretion.
  • The price comprises the face value of the Ticket and our booking fee.
  • Tickets are valid for the date of travel only and where a train time is specified, they are only valid on that specified train.
  • Tickets will not be exchanged or refunded.
  •  Any amendments to a booking will require the passenger to purchase a new ticket.
  • Tickets may not be resold or transferred to another party.
  • The railway cannot be held responsible for any tickets that are lost or stolen.
  • Your ticket does not guarantee a parking space.
  • Only if a special event is cancelled by us, will you be offered a transfer to a rescheduled event (subject to availability) up to the face value of the ticket or, if you are unable to attend the rescheduled event or it is not rescheduled, a full refund of the price you paid (excluding processing fee)
  • Our liability in connection with any Ticket purchased through our site is strictly limited to the purchase price of that Ticket.
  • We accept no liability for any losses which we cannot reasonably foresee at the time of making a sale of a Ticket, or for business losses.
  • On the extremely rare occasion that there are NO seats available on the train you may have to wait for the next one.
  • COVID -19. By purchasing your ticket/s you agree to allow us, should we need to, share your details for NHS ‘track and trace’
