Public Transport

Situated next to the busy A590, Haverthwaite Station is well served by local buses between Kendal, Grange-Over-Sands, Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness

If you’re planning a day out using public transport, we’ve put together some information and links that we hope will help you plan a stress-free day for everyone.

Visiting By Bus

If you’re visiting us by bus, the 6/X6 service operated by ‘Stagecoach’ provides an hourly service between Barrow and Kendal (via Ulverston and Grange) most days, and stops just outside the railway at Haverthwaite Station.

Visiting By Train

If you’re planning your visit by train, you can travel from Barrow-in-Furness, Manchester, or change at Lancaster Station (on the West-Coast main line) for stations on the Cumbria Coast Line. Stations at Ulverston and Grange-over-Sands are well served by the 6/X6 bus service which can then bring you to Haverthwaite Station.

Alternately, you can travel from Kendal, or change at Oxenholme Station (on the West-Coast main line) for Windermere Station, from here it is about an hours walk, or use the 599 bus service, down into Bowness where you can then cruise down to the Lake to the railway.
